Also known as Grey/Gray Cod, True Cod or Alaska Cod, our Wild Pacific Cod are longline (hook and line) caught in the pristine waters of the Bering Sea in Alaska and then frozen at sea. Once the vessels return back to Seattle, the fish are then produced into portions, vacuum packed and then refrozen. A Seafood Watch best choice as well as Ocean Wise approved means the stocks are abundant and fishing is sustainable. Pacific Cod portions have a lean mild flavour with large flakes and a tender firm texture. This white fish is one of the leanest sources of protein with a cooked 6 oz portion containing 30 grams of protein and only 1 g of fat.
For best results, simply break the vacuum pack seal and thaw overnight in the refrigerator. Because of it's mild yet savoury flavour, Organic Ocean Wild Pacific Cod Portions are a delight to cook with. They can be baked, broiled, grilled, pan fried, sautéed or steamed and absorb spices and flavours well. A favourite ingredient for fish and chips, why not combine them with our Gluten Free Fish and Chip Pack and decide what your favourite white fish actually is.
With firm but flaky and mild taste this is the best cod we ever had.
First order the spot prawns were very good. This last 1 pound tub were tasteless and mushy. I followed directions on a YouTube from you pouring boiling water over the prawns for 30 seconds. Some were not cooked at all. I then put them in a pan with butter For one minute, but they were really soft and mushy. I would not buy them again.
Great experience with sweet flaky but meaty flesh firm and cooks well. I pan fried in butter lemon juice, garlic and lemon zest. Glass of Pinot Gris completed the sauce. I just ordered more of the cod. The best fish ever.
Every one of the 4 pieces of Pacific cod we received were extremely tough, with what almost seemed to be a long piece of cartilage through the middle. I'm very careful not to overcook fish, as I like it on the slightly underdone side. If I had been served this in a restaurant, I would have sent it back. To add insult to injury, I submitted a comment on line describing this problem and never heard a word back from Organic Ocean. In the past, our experience with OO has been very positive, but not this time. So disappointed!
