What are Humpback Shrimp?

Humpback shrimp or King shrimp are caught from a small artisanal trap fishery that occurs in Prince Rupert harbour. This fishery uses baited traps that have little impact on the seabed and sees virtually no unintended and discarded bycatch of other sea life. Our Humpback shrimp have the heads removed and tails have been frozen at sea (FAS) in seawater filled tubs. Humpback shrimp have been described as the finest tasting of the six species of shrimp harvested in the frigid waters of the North Pacific. The combination of the sweet and delicate taste and firm and crunchy texture, make Organic Ocean Humpback Shrimp tails one of the best kept secrets in the shrimp market.

How do you prepare Humpback Shrimp Tails

For best results, remove from tub, place in colander and bowl and thaw in the refrigerator overnight so water is allowed to drain. Our Humpback shrimp tails may contain eggs in them so for information regarding this delicacy, check out the same info on our Delicious Sidestripe Shrimp Tail product page. Humpback Shrimp are a bit small for the grill, but perfect for any recipe where a smaller shrimp is required like shrimp scampi. These shrimp come uncooked and shell-on, so you'll want to peel them before sautéing with some olive oil, butter, garlic and wine. They're small so they'll cook fast. Or why not try our humpback shrimp tails in an amazing Seafood Paella just like Chef Helena Yuu posted here.

Humpback Shrimp Tails

These were sweet & delicious. A little finicky to shell & devein but worth the effort. Thanks for another terrific seafood treat.
