Dungeness Crab - or dungy for short - are found off the west coast of North America from the Aleutian Islands in Alaska all the way down to California. Organic Ocean Dungeness Crab are sustainable caught using small boats with 2 - 4 crew members and crab pots. The fishery is highly regulated and only male Dungeness Crab are allowed to be harvested and they must measure 6.5 inches or 165 mm across their shell (carapace). Our Dungeness Crab are caught in Northern British Columbia and are Ocean Wise recommended. Dungeness Crab has a sweet, mild and slightly nutty flavour and is less briny than most other crab meat.
Organic Ocean Dungeness Crab are cooked from live and then brine frozen, fresh off the boat. A Dungeness Crab Section is half of a crab, which consists of body meat, 1 claw and 4 legs per cluster. There are 4 sections in this pack. Since the crab is already pre-cooked, simply thaw on a tray overnight for best results, then heat and serve. A squeeze of lemon or a slather of melted garlic butter is all that is needed to enjoy this mouth watering experience. Want something even more luxurious? Best I have had Steamed 10 minutes and dipped In garlic butter Simple and really enjoyable
Used a portion of my crab to make a crab dip. It was delicious.
I really like that Organic Ocean ships their products outside of the Lower Mainland. My mother in Kamloops loved her birthday treat of very delicious Dungeness crab meat. The portions of crabs stayed frozen when the courier dropped off the shipment at her door. The crabs were sweet, firm and full of flavor. I will purchase again.
Very delicious
